![]() ![]() Then I started a meeting on Zoom on that machine, and started Jackbox. I basically used OBS + VirtualCam to broadcast my desktop as a webcam (screen sharing wasn't good enough - I want people to be able to change focus). Two computers for the host, one for each player Zoom (note - it HAS to be this old version for the host for VirtualCam compatibility) We tried playing Jackbox with video chat and no main game screen, and it was confusing and shit. There's probably an easier way, but I wanted a) to be able to maximise the game screen and b) to be able to keep webcam video chat on too. ![]() Using your phone as a controller is novel and simple, and the game mechanics are fun.Īfter PLENTY of faffing around, I found the secret sauce for playing Jackbox online during these uncertain times. I can imagine a lot of the friends and family who wouldn't touch games if their life depended on it would love this. If they could just make the effort to do a UK version I think this would be really popular. The heavily-American references are probably what's stopping them putting these out in the UK on consoles. What I didn't like was having to huddle around my PC. It was more hassle getting my guests on my wi-fi. It was a breeze to get going, no issues getting everyone connected to the game (one iPhone, one Android phone and an iPad). Personally I love trying to draw something great and the game is, again, great when everyone is as enthusiastic about drawing. I have a feeling it wouldn't be much fun if people you play with keep putting down wacky answers that are obviously wrong, but with a group of people who actually understand what is needed it is amazing.ĭrawsome is one of those games where you pray your friends don't go "oh no, I am useless at drawing", forgetting that it's not an art contest. Everyone tries to come up with a convincing wrong answer to a question and hopefully get other players to choose it as correct. I could see that being really entertaining if they made the effort to do a UK-specific one.įibbage was my favourite. ![]() You Don't Know Jack was so heavily reliant on American cultural references it was genuinely baffling. ![]()
